I'm now 40 years old and a recovering drug addict, Meth was my drug of choice it led my life, I had been using drugs and alcohol since I was about 14 or 15. I didn't know how to live a life free of addiction. And god was no longer a part of my life. My husband was in drug court and also dealing with addiction. I only had one of my daughters and my dad in my life, the rest of my family wasn't speaking to me. I wanted to change but didn't know how to change old behaviors, even though i was clean. Also 2 years ago business owners wanted me out of there stores, law enforcement agency's were after me, and i needed a rehab.
I found Glen through my dad, Glen was in need of a employee and I needed a job, I truly believe Glen when he says God puts people in our paths for a reason. I met Glen only having a couple months clean and he gave me a chance. At this point in my life I was not a valued member of society and I personally thought I would never amount to anything. after we talked for a few and he asked me to start the next day, Glen gives people a second chance when society would not, he also does not judge us for our past, we use it as a learning tool and move forward.
When I started, I didn't know how to show up on time, my drivers licence was suspended, my teeth were falling outta my head, and I had some other medical problems. Glen helped me to learn a good work ethic by coming to work early, and helped me get a bank account. I've sense have learned how to budget and with his help I have my license and my prior fines are almost paid off. I have car insurance, and my bills are paid on time. Glen has taught me that going to the Doctor's is normal and by the grace of god I have over come my medical problems and got my teeth fixed. Glen has supported me and my family, My husband, our daughter and I have had a difficult time with housing, during the course of my employment we have been renting a garage, to the family unit at the shelter, and then renting a room with a friend, and by the grace of god we now have a 3 bedroom house with both of our daughters at home with us. Over the course of about a year we started to slowly collect furniture for our house, I was able to make pmts. on the items , and I got to pick out exactly what I needed to furnish my home. My husband has Since graduated from drug court, and has a great job. I have built true friendships and business relationships with other business owners, law enforcement agency's and rehabs. When I answer the phones at work people take me seriously and I am now respected, my opinion now matters and I am of valued.
I am Still employed at Prodigal Thrift, I've been here sense March 2017, and I now get to be a part of Glens dream, he has taught me to help other people that were in the same spot as I was without enabling them. I love working at the store our regular customers are great and I've meet some amazing people because i work here. I also now have my mom back in my life, and both my daughters live with me now, I would not be the person I have become today with out Prodigal Thrift and Glen. My life is forever Changed for the better and I couldn't be happier now that I am a valued member of our community and society. I really do pray that I can help at least one person the way that Glen has helped guide me to a better life, I can honestly say that without him I don't know where my life would have ended up. I'm eternally grateful god led me to his door, I am truly blessed.
